Burnley FC in the Community partners YGAM for education programme

The partnership has already seen twelve staff members undergo YGAM training, with plans for more to receive this.

The trained Burnley staff will then offer the knowledge of gambling-related harm that they learn to local schools, through personal, social, health and economic education (PSHE) classes at schools in the Lancashire area.

“The training provided by the YGAM team will prove invaluable across our organisation,” Burnley in the Community’s National Citizen Service manager Callam Barnes said. “We will continue to utilise this partnership to upskill our staff and provide impactful workshops to the wide range of children and young people we work with throughout our community projects.”

“As an organisation, we are thrilled that Burnley FC in the Community will be putting our fully accredited training to use by delivering our resources to local schools as part of their PSHE lessons,” 

“Training the team at Burnley has been an absolute pleasure and their passion for the local community has shown us just how committed they are to dealing with the complex issues of gaming and gambling related harms in children. 

“I am very much looking forward to training the rest of the staff at the club and working together in the months ahead to ensure that we inform, educate and safeguard young people in Lancashire and beyond.”

YGAM’s educational outreach has also seen it launch a training programme for healthcare professionals, including general practicioners, as well as members of UK trade union Unison.
