Kindred launches drive to reduce environmental impact
The Unibet owner said its targets will be in line with the goal of limiting global temperature rise to below 2°C, with an ambition to limit it further to below 1.5°C.
By 2023, Kindred aims to reduce 85% of absolute direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions from a 2018 base year. The group also aims to reduce 30% of business travels by 2023, also from a 2018 base year.
The pledges come two years after Kindred said it will source 100% renewable electricity by 2023.
“We know that businesses have an important role to play in fighting climate change and we are committed to doing our bit for the planet,” Kindred chief executive Henrik Tjärnström said.
“Our science-based carbon-reduction targets focus on cutting carbon emissions across our data centres, offices and business travel activities.
“They are also linked to our 2023 ambition to procure 100 per cent of our electricity from renewable sources of energy where we can.”
To be compliant with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Standard, Kindred reports annual emissions and its environmental impact through the Carbon Discloure Project and the annual Sustainability Report.
