Kindred drops Spanish licence bid to focus on other markets

Kindred Group has withdrawn its application for a Spanish licence in order to focus on its core activities in the Swedish and US markets.

The operator launched its bid to secure a licence in Spain in December last year, but has now confirmed to iGamingBusiness.com that it withdrew this application.

Kindred said that the Spanish application was “subject to a hard deadline to finalise the platform for local regulation”. Due to current obligations in other markets, it decided instead to allocate internal resources to regions such as the US, where it is live in New Jersey, and newly regulated Sweden.

However, Kindred has not ruled out resubmitting its application for a Spanish licence in the future.

“Kindred remains fully committed to the group’s strategic objective of increasing its revenue from locally licensed markets and look forward to revisiting its Spanish licence application once the process opens again,” Kindred said.

While the operator currently has no gaming activities in the country, it maintains a technology hub in Spain's capital Madrid.
