Evolution reports ‘strong’ demand despite Covid-19 outbreak
Live dealer software provider Evolution Gaming has said that it continues to experience strong demand for its products despite the global outbreak of novel coronavirus (Covid-19).
Evolution said its has not experienced any large disturbances in daily operations so far, adding that demand for products has increased in recent weeks.
The provider said many customers have switched to playing casino games as the suspension of major sporting events around the world has meant that options for sports betting had been severely reduced.
Evolution also said it has implemented precautionary measures across all of its studios, including disinfection, distancing and separation of staff, temperature checks at studio entrances, and increased cleaning and hand hygiene.
“It is a turbulent time and it is inevitable that Covid-19 also impacts our business, but all employees are now doing a hard and fantastic job,” Evolution’s chief executive Martin Carlesund said. “Calm and methodical with the right decisions every day, we are slowly moving forward.
“We work in a precautionary manner and according to national guidelines to protect the health and safety of our employees. We have a strong financial position, and in the midst of all this, we experience a high demand for live casino.
“With the safety of our employees as priority, we are doing our utmost to continue delivering the market’s leading product.”
The statement comes after Evolution last month posted a year-on-year increase in revenue and profit for 2019, due in part to a rise in commission income from both new and existing customers.
Total revenue for the 12 months to 31 December 2019 amounted to €365.8m (£331.5m/$391.5m), up 49% from the previous year, while profit after tax was also up 79.3% to €149.7m.
Meanwhile, online gaming software developer Iforium has said its staff will now be working remotely as part of its own measures to protect against coronavirus.
Iforium said while its team will be apart, it will remain “fully open for business” and that any disruption during this period will be minimised “to the very best of our ability”.
