888 confirms Frieberger as chief executive

888 has confirmed the appointment of Itai Frieberger as its new chief executive with immediate effect.

Frieberger has serving as chief operating officer of the online gaming firm since April 1 and joined the company’s board in May of last year.

The moves comes after 888 last month said that it was hoping to gain regulatory approval to appoint Frieberger to the role.

“It's an honour to be appointed as the new CEO of 888; we have fantastic brands, first class gaming platforms and unrivalled analytics and marketing capabilities,” Frieberger said.

“All of this is underpinned by a dynamic, talented and expert team and together we are looking forward to building on 888's success for our customers, colleagues and shareholders.”

In addition, 888 has confirmed that executive chairman Brian Mattingley has been appointed as non-executive chairman with immediate effect.

Speaking about Frieberger’s appointment, Mattingley said: “Itai has played a vital part in 888's success to date and has unique market insight and experience to lead the next chapter in 888's progress.

“Itai is admired throughout the online gaming industry and has been instrumental in the company’s development in recent years.”
