Indiana sports betting bounces back in August as handle reaches $238.0m
Handle for the month was 15.2% up from $206.6m (£176.2m/€203.0m) in July this year and also 10.4% higher than the $215.6m posted in August of 2021.
Baseball was again the sport of choice among players, drawing $77.8m in wagers during August, ahead of football on $17.6m and basketball with $12.5m. A further $64.7m was spent on parlay betting and $62.3m across other sports.
In terms of revenue, taxable adjusted gross revenue for August was $25.4m, up 21.5% from $20.9m in July this year and also 53.9% higher year-on-year compared to $16.5m in August 2021.
Blue Chip Casino and partner FanDuel claimed top spot for the month in terms of revenue, posting $8.2m from $69.9m in total wagers.
Ameristar Casino and its DraftKings sportsbook ranked second with $7.2m in revenue, but with a higher handle of $73.3m. Belterra Casino – another FanDuel partner – placed third with $3.4m in revenue off a handle of $28.1m.
The state was also able to collect $2.4m in sports betting tax during the month.
