Pow to oversee gambling and horse racing at DCMS
Rebecca Pow has been reappointed as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Arts, Heritage and Tourism at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), with responsibility for gambling, lotteries and horse racing.
Pow has been serving in the role since May under former Prime Minister Theresa May, and will remain in the position under the new leadership of Boris Johnson.
In addition to her previous duties at DCMS, Pow will now oversee gambling, lotteries and horse racing, rather than new Sports Minister Nigel Adams.
Pow has served as the Member of Parliament for Taunton Deane since May 2015 and has links with Taunton Racecourse
Although Pow has not previously held any Government position related to the gambling sector, she was a member of the DCMS Committee from September 2017 until earlier this month. Pow also spent time on the DCMS Sub-Committee on Disinformation.
Confirmation of Pow’s reappointment comes after Nicky Morgan was also named as the new Secretary of State for DCMS, in one of a series of Cabinet changes after Johnson took over as Prime Minister.
