Tsogo Sun appoints Mall as new director as Gani departs
Farzanah Mall, currently chief executive of IT solutions provider Komorebi Holdings, has been named as an independent non-executive director of the business, as well as chair of the audit and risk committee.
Mall has over 20 years’ of experience in auditing, financial management, risk management, governance, business optimisation, marketing, brand positioning and communication, having also worked for Deloitte, PWC and KPMG.
Her appointment comes as Mohamed Gani, who has served on the board since 2016, steps down due to ill health.
Meanwhile, Rachel Watson has been appointed as chair of the board’s social and ethics committee, while Elias Mphande will become a member of the social and ethics committee, as well as a member of the remuneration committee.
“The company wishes to thank Mr Gani for his extensive contribution to the Tsogo Sun board and its board committees, warmly welcomes Ms Mall to the board of directors and wishes Ms Mall, Ms Watson and Mr Mpande well with their new appointments,” the operator said.
The appointments come after TSG last month brokered a deal to acquire a 50.1% stake in local land-based and online operator Betcoza, in a move that will see it move into the country’s sports betting market.
The operator’s Tsogo Sun Alternative Gaming Investments subsidiary will pay ZAR49m (£2.3m/€2.5m/$3.0m) in cash for its stake in Betcoza, the business behind the Bet.co.za online sportsbook.
