Crown director Korsanos announces intention to retire
Korsanos will step down officially at the conclusion of Crown’s annual general meeting on 21 October, after working in the role for the last three years.
Crown interim chairman, Jane Halton AO PSM said: “On behalf of the Board, I would like to
acknowledge and thank Mrs Korsanos for her valuable and significant contribution during her tenure as
a Director of Crown.
“Mrs Korsanos has provided stability and outstanding leadership and support to
Crown as a Director and Chair of the People, Remuneration & Nomination and Audit & Corporate
Governance committees. It’s been a pleasure to work with Mrs Korsanos over the last 3 years and I
wish her well for her future.”
Korsanos’ impending departure represents Crown’s latest boardroom level change in a year which included the Victoria government launching an investigation into the business.
That followed an inquiry from the New South Wales Independent Liquor & Gaming Authority which deemed Crown unsuitable to obtain a licence for a casino in Barangaroo, Sydney.
Ziggy Switkowski was appointed as the company’s new chairman in August, while Steve McCann became CEO of Crown Melbourne following the departure of Xavier Walsh
Korsanos added: “It has been a privilege to work with the members of the Board, senior management
and the broader Crown team. Crown has been through a period of significant scrutiny while also
managing the impacts of a global pandemic. I am proud of the team we have built and the significant
progress we have made in implementing our transformation and remediation agenda.
“I have made this decision to step down from the Board to focus on my extensive other commitments. I wish the Board and the entire team at Crown every success as they continue with the reform journey.”
