iGaming start-up Carousel Group has appointed Phillip Wilson, previously of Gala Coral and Winners Group, as chief operating officer.

Carousel Group has appointed Phillip Wilson, a former executive at Gala Coral and Winners Group, as chief operating officer of the business.

Wilson joins the iGaming start-up having most recently been COO at secondary lottery platform provider Winners Group.

During his time at Winners Group, where he also had spell as head of product, he was responsible for developing and implementing a strategic plan to pivot the business from a B2C brand to a larger B2B operation

Prior to this, Wilson spent three years as head of product at Gala Coral, where he helped the company develop its mobile and tablet offerings.

Away from the gambling industry, Wilson served in senior roles with The Glass House Publishing Company, IT service provider Clark Integrated Technologies and international estate agent Property Mart Overseas.

Speaking to iGamingBusiness.com, Wilson said: “It’s unusual in this industry to get to create something from the ground up, this for me is the most exciting part.

“What attracted me and persuaded me to join though was the team – we are an eclectic mix of people who want to do things a little differently, and we have a great mix of industry and wider e-commerce experience which really appeals to me – their enthusiasm and fanatical drive really caught my attention.”

Wilson’s appointment comes after Madrid-based Carousel Group last week announced plans to roll out its two new sports betting brands in SportsBetting.com and RaceBook.com.

To support the launch and its ongoing expansion strategy, the company has also launched a new affiliate programme, through which it will focus on recruiting European and Latin American-facing affiliates to promote the brands.

Carousel Group CEO Daniel Graetzer said: “Following the launch of our new affiliate programme and public announcement of our recently acquired sports betting brands, it is an exciting and critical time for the business and I am thrilled that Phillip will play a significant role in the direction we take in the coming months and years.”
