Everton’s Mina charged with breaching FA betting rules

The English Football Association (FA) has charged Everton defender Yerry Mina with misconduct for his appearance in an advertisement promoting a betting and gaming brand.

Though the FA did not go into detail about the charge, it has been reported that the advert in question appeared in Mina’s home country of Colombia, for the BetJuegos brand.

This amounts to a breach of FA Rule E8 (3), which states that “an individual participant, when acting in a personal capacity, shall not be permitted to advertise or promote any betting activity” related to any football match or tournament around the world.

The FA’s rules and regulations apply to players at teams in the English football pyramid, as well as all club officials, team staff and match officials.

Mina, who joined English Premier League side Everton from Spanish LaLiga giant Barcelona in August of last year, has until tomorrow (26 July) to respond to the charges.
