Intralot signs up with Fifa and Italian FA
Intralot has signed a cooperation agreement with Early Warning System (EWS), a subsidiary of football’s global governing body Fifa, and agreed a sponsorship deal with the Italian Football Federation (FIGC).
Under the Fifa deal, Intralot and EWS will exchange information on irregular and suspicious betting activities to help detect and prevent attempted manipulation and match-fixing.
EWS has been supporting Fifa in its efforts to stamp out corruption in football since 2006.
Socrates Kokkalis, deputy chief executive of Intralot, said: “Our new agreement with EWS at group level, is the continuation of the excellent cooperation we have established since 2008, when Intralot subsidiary ‘Betting Company’ joined EWS’ international network of partners.
“Transparency and integrity are Intralot’s core values and we are very proud to be part of a global alliance that actively safeguards them.”
Meanwhile, Intralot is to become a premium sponsor of the Italian national team in a deal that runs through to the end of 2018.
Intralot will work with the FIGC on a series of initiatives, such as social and youth projects and combating issues that can affect the integrity of the sport.
Italy plays Spain tonight (Thursday) in the latest round of Group G qualifying matches for the 2018 Fifa World Cup.
