Intralot has appointed Christos Dimitriadis, currently group chief services and delivery officer, as its permanent chief executive.

Dimitriadis is a long-time employee of the lottery and gaming solutions provider, having first joined the business in 2007 as group director of information security. He has also served as group director of technology operations, before taking on the chief services and delivery role in May last year.

The supplier said that in this role he helped shape its technology strategy, as well as managing the delivery of its solutions and services to 47 jurisdictions around the world. Dimitriadis was also credited with building the business’ enterprise risk management, innovation, cybersecurity, privacy, technology transformation and intellectual property protection frameworks.

As chief executive, he has been elected as an executive member of Intralot’s board of directors, replacing Dimitrios Klonis.

He replaces company founder Sokratis Kokkalis in the role, who has served as interim CEO since March 2019, following the resignation of Antonios Kerastaris.

Kerastaris stood down from the role he had held since 2014 in the wake of Intralot losing the contract to power Turkey’s sports betting monopoly operator Iddaa to rival supplier Scientific Games, in partnership with Demirören Group.

“Following a transition period of reorganization during the last year, the company will evolve with emphasis in the digital technology, with Mr Dimitriadis as its new Group CEO,” Kokkalis said of Dimitriadis’ appointment.

“Mr Dimitriadis has a long experience with our company for the past 12 years and possesses in depth knowledge of the technologies in our industry. I wish him every success in his new role.”

Dimitriadis thanked Kokkalis for giving him the opportunity to serve as Intralot CEO, describing it as “an honour and great responsibility”.

“Intralot is a company with unique DNA that has succeeded to penetrate markets that seemed impossible to establish presence in, a company that leapfrogged from being a spinoff to achieving and retaining a position at the top three of its industry,” he continued. “In my new role I am looking forward to working for the company’s dynamic progress”.

Intralot is due to report its full-year results for 2019 on 1 April, the first following a restructuring of the business to streamline its operations, technology, digital and commercial divisions in May 2019.
