Camelot Lottery Solutions appoints David Kelly as new chair
Lottery technology provider Camelot Lottery Solutions has named David Kelly as its new chair, while sister business Camelot UK Lotteries has appointed Gill Whitehead as a non-executive director.
Kelly (pictured) takes on the role having served as a non-executive director at Camelot UK Lotteries, operator of the UK National Lottery, since 2014. Whitehead replaces Kelly in his previous position.
Prior to joining Camelot, Kelly held various senior roles with digital businesses across a number of industries, including chief operating officer of eBay Inc. and operations director at Amazon.co.uk.
Kelly is also currently chairman of online insurance broker Simply Business and holiday retailer On The Beach, as well as a non-executive director at newspaper group Reach Plc, The Gym Group and Holiday Extras.
“I’m proud to be part of a company with such a strong heritage in building successful global lotteries, based on modern digital solutions like mobile, cloud and data,” Kelly said.
“I look forward to working with the management team and board to continue the company’s legacy of driving responsible lottery growth by engaging players and increasing benefits returned to local communities.”
Wayne Pickup, chief executive of Camelot Lottery Solutions, added: “David has an incredible pedigree in leading internet and technology businesses, from start-ups to fast-scaling and established global brands, and his expertise will be instrumental in guiding the future success of Camelot Lottery Solutions.”
Whitehead, Kelly’s replacement at Camelot UK Lotteries, brings with her more than 20 years’ experience with a number of major organisations such as Google, the BBC and Channel 4.
Having joined Google in 2016, Whitehead currently serves as senior director, client solutions and analytics. Prior to this, she spent eight years in various senior roles at UK commercial broadcaster Channel 4.
Earlier in her career, Whitehead worked for BBC Worldwide for three years, and spent five years with Deloitte.
Camelot chairman, Sir Hugh Robertson, said: “I would like to welcome Gill – whose extensive experience in digital transformation, data and analytics, and consumer insight within high-calibre UK businesses will ensure that innovation continues to be at the forefront of our strategy.
“She is an ideal fit to continue to boost the standard and skillset of our board, and I very much look forward to working with her.
“At the same time, I’d like to take this opportunity to personally thank David for his expertise and guidance since I joined last summer, and also for his over four years of tenure on the board.”
