Play’n GO is to expand its service offering into the regulated Portuguese igaming market after the slots developer was certified to launch in the country.
The developer will now be able to work with both new and existing partners that hold a licence to operate in Portugal.
Current customers include PokerStars, which recently launched its online casino in the country. Players on PokerStars Casino will now have access to Play’n GO slot games following the developer’s new certification.
“We want as many people as possible to enjoy our games, and we also want our clients, both current and future, to be able to rely on us to have a presence wherever they seek to develop their operations,” Play’n GO chief executive Johan Törnqvist said.
“We’re excited by this move into a new market, and we look forward to exploring more new ground in the future.”
Approval to launch in Portugal comes after Play’n GO this year also rolled out its services in both Sweden and the Philippines. The developer hopes to expand into additional markets before the end of 2019.
Last year, Play’n GO also launched in Mexico for the first time, via its partnership with operator Logrand Entertainment Group.
Portugal is now in its third full year of regulation, with the market having gone live in 2017. Last year, online betting and gaming revenue amounted to €152.1m (£131.0m/$171.5m) in the country, up 24% on the prior year.
Online casino gaming revenue last year jumped from €54.4m in 2017 to €73.2m, representing an increase of 34% year-on-year.
