Man City player fined and warned over betting breaches

The English Football Association national governing body has issued Manchester City defender Martin Demichelis with a fine of £22,058 (€28,552/$32,160) and warned the Argentinean over his conduct after he breached betting rules.

In March, the FA filed the charges against Demichelis after he was found to have placed 29 bets on football matches between January 22 and February 15 of this year.

Current FA rules, introduced in the 2014-15 season, prevent professional players and coaches from betting on any football activities.

Shortly after, Demichelis accepted the charge, which could have led to a ban for the player, whose club finished fourth in the 2015-16 English Premier League.

However, the FA has now confirmed that the Argentine will not face a ban, but has been fined and issued with a warning over his future conduct.
