Lithuania adds major brands to gambling blacklist
Lithuania’s Gambling Control Authority (GCA) has added several major brands to its blacklist of gambling companies that it claims are operating online gaming services in the country without the necessary licences.
Betway, Unibet and William Hill have all been included in the list, with the GCA stating that the companies are illegally serving the market as they do not hold a local licence.
The GCA has issued binding orders to internet service providers to block access to the operators’ websites from inside the country.
Publication of the blacklist comes after Lithuania this month unveiled a host of amendments to its regulations regarding gambling in the country.
From January 1 this year, the Lithuanian GCA has been able to take “strict legal action” against operators that organise remote gambling illegally and target the country.
