Peru’s Apuesta Total on the problem with money transfer apps
| By Ewa Bakun
While cash and credit cards dominate in retail operations, transactions via transfer money apps, often supported through chat centres, such as Whatsapp and Telegram, are the most popular payment option in Latin America, says, Gonzalo Perez, CEO of Apuesta Total, an operator from Peru.
The main challenge is also related to the transfer apps. In case of Peru, the Jappa app, preferred by customers, imposes minimum limits, which are used quickly and easily. Owned by the main bank in the country, Jappa, despite the efforts, is unlikely to increase its limits.
This is a reflection of a generally strenuous relationships with local banks, which extends even to the ability of the employees of the gambling company to seek loans.
