Esports tournament and event infrastructure: James Dean, ESL
| By Micah Passman
The first thing to look at when selecting an esports tournament venue is location, says James Dean, director of UK strategy and commercial at ESL.
Esports is evolving. The gaming sphere has seen a consistent rise in audiences over the years, within each major tournament. Now, the infrastructure behind the venue is more important than ever.
Preexisting infrastructure for networking or video transport are two of the most important aspects to look for within an esports venue. As some players have only connected online, an offline tournament gives them the chance for a new experience. In turn. a venue or location needs to be able to offer certain amenities.
