Lottoland signs charity deal with Irish Red Cross
Lottery betting platform Lottoland has named the Irish Red Cross as its chosen charity for 2018.
The new corporate partnership will begin with a crowdfunding initiative as part of a donation that will allow the Irish Red Cross to provide more emergency care and services to the Irish public.
Lottoland has also committed to donating all sales proceedings of this Friday’s EuroMillions lottery draw to support a digital makeover of the Irish Red Cross ambulance fleet in Ireland.
The draw is set to feature a jackpot of €174m ($214.5m) and Lottoland expects to be able to donate the €50,000 required for the makeover, which will include digitising all traditional paper-based administration related to the ambulances.
Graham Ross, Irish country manager at Lottoland, said “This is our most ambitious CSR charity project in Ireland to date and our first full-scale partnership with a major Irish charity.
“In working together to plan the partnership projects, we’ve learned so much about the incredible work they do, particularly their huge volunteer base who give their time so selflessly for those less fortunate.
“As a disruptive digital technology company with innovation in its DNA, we are particularly excited to be working to generate funds for the digitisation of the ambulance fleet.”
Lottoland has attracted criticism from monopolies in recent times for offering betting on lotteries.
In November, Lottoland was banned from selling bets on Australian lotteries, while Camelot, operator of the UK National Lottery, urged the government to consult over the lottery betting model, saying it is impacting ‘Good Causes’
