Kindred Group considers Danske Spil acquisition – report

Kindred Group has expressed an interest in acquiring the online operations of Danske Spil, according to Danish media outlet Borsen.

The report states that Kindred has put forward a proposal to pay up to DKK4 billion (€538.1 million/$570 million) for the assets of Denmark’s former monopoly.

Kim Olsen, director of Kindred, told Borsen that although the country has now opened up its online market to allow international operators to offer services to Danish players, Danske Spil still has a number of competitive advantages.

However, despite Olsen’s comments, Danish Finance Minister Kristian Jensen said a deal would be unlikely, adding that Danske Spil would fare better if it were to remain under state control.

News of the reported discussions comes after Kindred last week agreed a deal to acquire online gaming operator 32Red.
