Zynga names Kim as new publishing chief
Zynga has appointed Bernard Kim as its new president of publishing with immediate effect.
In his new role, Kim will oversee the company’s publishing division, which is responsible for how Zynga brings its games and services to players.
Zynga’s publishing arm covers various processes such as network, consumer insights, product management, marketing, user acquisition, ad monetisation, communications, business development and strategic partnerships.
Kim, who will report directly to chief executive Frank Gibeau, joins the company from Electronic Arts, where he spent 10 years and most recently served as senior vice-president of mobile publishing.
Prior to his time with Electronic Arts, Kim had a spell as director of sales and channel strategy at The Walt Disney Company, where he led sales and retail for Disney Mobile.
“Zynga has a phenomenal opportunity in front of it; the company has proven brands, talented teams and the social DNA needed to deliver truly unique mobile games to players,” Kim said.
“I’m very excited to work with Frank and the team to deliver high-quality experiences that drive deeper long-term engagement with mass market audiences.”
Zynga’s Gibeau added: “I’ve worked with Bernard over the years on some of gaming’s biggest mobile title; he’s been on the frontlines of major platform shifts and business transitions over the last decade, and I believe his experience in games and digital entertainment will help accelerate our execution.”
