Betsson and TR Media join Swedish trade group
Gambling operator Betsson and multi-brand betting services provider TR Media have been accepted as members of the Swedish Gambling Association (Sper) industry trade group.
With the additions of Betsson ad TR Media, the association has boosted its membership to 18, with existing members including the likes of IGT, SG Digital, Raketech and ATG. Sper said it expects to add more members over the course of 2019.
“The gaming industry has to pull together and take joint responsibility for its development,” Sper president Jenny Nilzon said. “Betsson joining Sper shows that the issue is being taken seriously, while having TR Media involved is also incredibly valuable.”
Sweden-based Betsson offers a range of sports betting, casino, live casino, lottery, bingo and poker services through a number of subsidiaries and was among the first gaming brands to secure a licence to operate in the newly-regulated Swedish market.
The operator counts Sweden as its core market, but is also active in various other countries around the world, such as the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
TR Media is the company behind various Swedish-facing brands that provide a range of services to the market. These include trotting news portal Travronden, tipster service Spelvärde.se and horseracing information platform Breedly.com.
Speaking about joining Sper, TR Media CEO Daniel Livensjö said: “For us, it is important to promote a healthy, modern and sustainable gaming industry, but also to learn more about the guidelines for marketing and gaming. Therefore, we are very pleased to have been accepted as a member of Sper.”
Swedish gambling regulator Spelinspektionen has issued a series of warnings to licensed operators in recent weeks following a series of failures related to new regulations in the country.
Spelinspektionen said that continued failure to comply with these measure may result in the operator being fined or losing their licence without warning.
