Swiss gambling regulator the Eidgenössische Spielbankenkommission (ESBK) has awarded an online gambling licence to Casino Interlaken.

The Swiss land-based casino, located to the south of Bern in Interlaken, will now be able to offer online casino games to consumers in the country.

The ESBK had initially given approval to Casino Interlaken to offer online games in November of last year, but the casino required final sign-off from the country’s Federal Council (Bundesrat).

Casino Interlaken, which is owned by Casinos Austria International, has now received all necessary gaming permits and rolled out its new StarVegas.ch website in Switzerland.

The casino joins join Grand Casino Baden, Casino Davos, Grand Casino Luzern and Casino Zürichsee in securing online gaming licences. Grand Casino Kursaal Bern was also cleared for a licence in November, but is yet to confirm final approval by the Bundesrat.

Last month, the ESBK also revealed it had added another 35 websites to its blacklist of unlicensed operators.

In September 2019, both the ESBK and Inter-Cantonal Lotteries and Betting Commission published lists of companies not permitted to operate in the country. These lists are updated on regular basis with new sites.

With last month’s update, the ESBK list now contains 145 websites, including new additions such as Winorama.com, Magik.casino, Scracthmania.com, Bitstarz.com, Eclipsecasino, com and Goldeneuro.com.
