Pennsylvania lawmakers to revisit online gaming regulation
The Pennsylvania House Gaming Oversight Committee will next week further discuss online gaming in the US state, with the potential of launching a regulated service in the near future.
In June, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives approved a bill that could lead to the legalisation of online gambling and daily fantasy sports (DFS) in the state, although the measure has since sat in the Senate without progressing.
John Payne, a member of the House of Representatives and sponsor of the bill, said it has been discussed more than 50 times since the start of last year, but is yet to come into law.
According to the Onlinerpokerreport.com website, Payne said that he is doing “everything I can” to regulate both online casino games and DFS in the state, although its chances are currently rated 50-50.
Only a few days are left in the Senate session and the bill would have to be passed before the end of this in order to come into law in the current period.
Should the bill not go through in time, Payne said a “brand new bill” would have to come forward next year.
In addition, with Payne to retire at the end of next month, a different lawmaker would need to head up the campaign.
