Gambling harm prevention group Better Change has launched Gamblewise, a responsible gambling tool that aims to offer a similar level of player protection to retail bettors as online bettors.

Gamblewise allows players to set their own limits from their phone when they gamble in a retail venue. Players receive a notification when they have reached this limit.

The tool can also be used to notify retail gaming staff when a player’s limit has been reached, so they can inform the player.

“We are extremely proud to be launching our Gamblewise product as it is not only a product which fits into the Better Change portfolio seamlessly, but as an organisation entirely committed to reducing gambling related harm and protecting players, we felt there was a significant gap in the level of player protection offered to retail and land based players compared to those playing online,” said Victoria Reed, founder of Better Change.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer our clients an innovative, commercially sympathetic, and effective way to support their existing safer gambling strategies.”

Gamblewise is free for players. It is funded through a minimum £10 monthly fee that is charged to each establishment, which covers the tool’s installation and maintenance.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Better Change, an organisation known for its innovation and dynamism,” said Andrew Tottenham, founder of Gamblewise.

“We look forward to working together with Better Change to distribute safer gambling tools throughout the UK industry and overseas, for the benefit of players and operators.”
